Listen, we should all love our skin and the bodies we have, but combination skin can just be the worst sometimes. Half of the time my t-zone is too greasy for most makeup, and the other half of the time my outer t-zone is like a dry tundra. This gets complicated for me, especially with foundation, because if I buy a matte foundation, parts of my face will have intense dry patches, and if I buy a luminous foundation, my t-zone will be on a commercial for cooking spray.
Without further ado, I present to you the six foundations that create a somewhat equilibrium on my face, and leave my skin looking hydrated and matte.
1. Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation
This is my go to foundation and for the price you really can’t beat it! It retails for $5.99 and works better than most luxurious foundations. I find the coverage to be in the medium range, but it is easily buildable to achieve full coverage.
2. Tarte Amazonian Clay
This foundation retails for $39.00 at most locations and has a wide range of shades to choose from. The coverage is medium, and can be built up to full with a little bit of effort. I find it applies best with a damp beauty blender.
3. Elf Flawless Finish Foundation
This foundation is another amazing buy, as it retails for only $6! ELF Cosmetics did not disappoint, and for the price range you’re getting a great foundation. However, if worn for long periods of time, I find the foundation will disappear from your skin and leave a greasy film, so just be weary. Also, there is only a limited range of shades, and it provides a light to medium coverage, but I have built it up to full coverage on numerous occasions.
4. Fenty Beauty PRO FILT’R Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
What a name, what a name. This foundation lives up to all of the hype, and provides amazing coverage, without being too matte or too luminous. I love applying this with a beauty blender, if you want more glowy skin, or a brush to achieve the perfect matte look. Queen Rihanna provides us with an amazing range of colors, and a decent amount of product. This foundation retails for $34.
5. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
Once again, a reasonably priced foundation as it retails for $15, but it is hard to get in the US. If you’re in the UK it’s about 10 pounds, and is much easier to find. However, the shade range is limited and if you have sensitive skin be weary that this may cause breakouts.
6. Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer
Due to Clinique being a luxury brand, this foundation retails for $29 and you can find it at most department stores and beauty stores. They have a really great selection of shades, that can easily be combined to find your perfect match. I also really like the doe foot applicator, but I know that there are many who hate it, so just letting you know. The foundation has a light to medium coverage, and I have not been able to build it up to full coverage. It’s a very lightweight formula, and can be applied with a sponge or a brush.
Hopefully this helped all of my combination skin friends! Have a wonderful day superstars!
